    Yeah, I'm not sure that's the "Best EVER" big barrel ride. Justine Dupont pulling in through the back door from behind the bowl at way bigger Jaws, and coming out clean might rival this one. Surely on the short list of best big barrel rides ever. I got one from behind the main "Money Trees" bowl section at maximum size rideable G Land that was voted best tube of the biggest, best swell of the season by the local chargers in attendance at dinner at Bobbys Camp that night, but it was still no where near the size of the two mentioned above. I can only dream what it must be like to pull in to a double or triple overhead dry barrel and come out clean way down the line. These types of tube rides change your life, and make you a rare human being; and you feel it's change to your soul forever. I'm blessed to have ridden some clean and mean ones. Cheers.

    People who have never experienced large barrels like this have no idea how crazy it is. I surfed for 25 years and when it got big enough to where you could die, I said nope, I'm out. 8 feet and under for me, I never thought I had to prove myself. I'll leave that for these guys. That was an insane barrel. I surfed 15' Rincon Point once at high tide and drowning did cross my mind. I lost my board and it ended up 15' up on the rocks, a mile down the 101, halfway to La Conchita. I got hit by a 15 wave set, swam for 20 minutes. Finally there was a lull and I turned straight to shore and swam like hell. I made it right to the point where the waves, sand and rocks merged. 15' waves were crashing up the rocks.

    Thats not the longest. I saw Alan Byrne the oz shaper get a tuberide that big but teice ad long in the pipe masters. He was in yhere do long that the anoucer gave up on him and got everyone to look back out to the next rider. And Alan came out way down the beach. Very few sae it with hundreds of spectators on the beach. Lord Tally-Ho Blears was the announcer, and Alan recieved no credit for the ride.

    @donaldwilson5693 5 місяців тому

    When I saw the title, I immediately hooked up my laptop to my stereo system. Disappointed really. It would be great if a drone could somehow do some really high-fidelity recordings of the waves while the surfers are surfing them.

    Such an Awesome piece of Nature and Wave. Hey, Surf Rider and surfing community. Has anyone done a study yet of the local sea life in the area since all of these fuel powered watercraft have been all over the pristine piece of Nature, now that is has been over a decade of doing it? I know, its fun to be rich and just surf and travel, but there is the ecological thing, ya know. 🤔

    I think you”re wrong. Foot further up board to engage rail, not fins.

    • @100percentsurf
      @100percentsurf 6 місяців тому

      Hi. I am just asking the question. Surely designing a high-performance surfboard that allows surfers to maintain an optimal foot position without the need to adjust their stance could indeed be a significant advancement in surfboard technology. In most sports, making improvements in the equipment can enhance performance levels. Engaging the rail without having to move your feet would be an improvement.

    • @MegaPhilly20
      @MegaPhilly20 6 місяців тому

      Sure, @@100percentsurf , but you misunderstood the issue. The change in stance is not a sub optimal position that loses control with fins disengaged, it gains control as the face of the wave changes. Can you make a board that perfectly engages the face of the wave of every wave at all times on the wave without you changing your stance? No.

    • @100percentsurf
      @100percentsurf 6 місяців тому

      @@MegaPhilly20 Have a think about the tow in guys at Teahupoo. They are in footstraps. They don't move their back foot forward. Watch John John His back foot rarely moves of his pad. I watched the Vans pipe comp and a lot of the competitors were moving their back foot forward. There is always room for improvement.

    Great to see this clip. My Late brother took me to "Skyline" many times as a 5 yr old. Bill Hambly-Clark was one of the first drivers, to run an FJ Holden in the Hot Rods. Bill was a noted gunsmith and had his own segment on the "Channel Niners", TV show. He also shot and killed 2 lions, which escaped from their circus cages after killing their trainer. They ran loose in the now industrial suburb of Wingfield, which back then in reality, was somewhat of a desolate area of land. Oh the cars are going in the correct direction, as the rods always ran clockwise in Australia.
